HMD Global Set to Launch HMD Crest and Crest Max in India

HMD Global, the Finnish mobile manufacturer and parent company of Nokia, is preparing to make a significant entry into the Indian smartphone market with the launch of two new devices: the HMD Crest and Crest Max. Initially, the company considered naming its new smartphones “Arrow,” but due to legal issues, the name was dropped.

HMD Crest and Crest Max Launch Announcement

The official announcement regarding the HMD Crest and Crest Max comes after a social media contest on X (formerly known as Twitter), where the company invited suggestions for naming its first smartphones in India. On July 7, HMD disclosed that it had to abandon the “Arrow” name for legal reasons. After much deliberation, “Crest” was chosen as the brand name for the new series, which will include two models: the HMD Crest and the HMD Crest Max.

An event scheduled for July 25 is speculated to be the official launch event for these new smartphones. This announcement follows HMD Global’s previous confirmation on social media about its plans to introduce its first smartphone in India.

Current HMD Smartphone Lineup in India

Currently, HMD Global offers three Nokia-branded smartphones in India: the Nokia C32, Nokia C22, and Nokia G42 5G. However, none of these devices carry the HMD branding. The launch of the Crest series marks the company’s first step towards establishing its brand in the Indian smartphone market.

Speculations on HMD Crest and Crest Max

While specific details about the HMD Crest and Crest Max have not been revealed, there is speculation that one of the new devices might be a rebranded version of the HMD Pulse, which was launched in Europe in April. This aligns with HMD Global’s strategy of introducing competitively priced smartphones with reliable performance.

Future HMD Smartphone Developments

In addition to the Crest series, HMD Global is reportedly working on several other smartphones, including two mid-range devices and a rugged handset. These upcoming models are expected to have similar specifications to the Pulse series and may be named HMD Nighthawk, HMD Tomcat, and HMD Project Fusion. Furthermore, HMD Global is rumored to be developing an HMD View and a Nokia Lumia-inspired smartphone, dubbed HMD Skyline.

Last Words

The launch of the HMD Crest and Crest Max signifies HMD Global’s ambitious plans to expand its presence in the Indian smartphone market. With a mix of innovative features and competitive pricing, these new devices are expected to attract a broad range of consumers. Stay tuned for more updates from the HMD Global event on July 25.
